Yosegi – The Japanese art of marquetry

Yosegi is the Japanese art of marquetry, an ancestral technique that consists in sticking together pieces of wood to create geometric patterns. Once assembled, these pieces of wood are finely cut into strips, which allow to decorate furniture or objects. The Yosegi was developed in Japan during the Edo era, and there are still today some artisans practicing this art. Very impressive !
