Winter weather advisory in effect for tri-state counties coated in sleet, freezing rain

NEW JERSEY – A winter weather advisory is in effect Tuesday for much of northern New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley as freezing rain and sleet slicken roadways and coat the region with a sheet of ice, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory is set to expire at 11 a.m. and applies to the following counties in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, the agency said:

Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, New London, Western Passaic, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester...
