Whirlpool Beats Q2 EPS Amid Dollar, Brazil Woes

Cost-cutting and acquisitions helped push Whirlpool (WHR) past Wall Street's second-quarter earnings forecasts despite a strong dollar and weakness in its Brazil market. The Benton Harbor, Mich.-based company earned $2.21 a share in Q2, vs. $2.25 a year ago. Excluding items, Whirlpool earned $2.70 a share, up 3%, beating Thomson Reuters' analysts by 8 cents.
