Walmart (WMT), the nation's biggest brick-and-mortar retailer, delivered a mixed holiday quarter with earnings falling short, as it fights an expensive battle vs. Amazon (AMZN) for retail supremacy.
X Estimates: A 4.6% profit increase to $1.36 a share on 3% revenue growth to $135.04 billion.
Results: Wal-Mart earned $1.33 a share. Sales grew $136.3 billion. U.S. comps rose 2.6%, above some estimates. U.S. e-commerce sales climbed 23%.
