Valencia beats St. Anthony with strong running game, tough defense

PLACENTIA – Valencia used a stifling defense and dominant ground attack to beat St. Anthony 24-0 Friday in a nonleague contest at Bradford Stadium.

“It was our season-opener and we just wanted to play good defense,” Valencia coach Jason Gray said. “A win the first game of the season is always nice, but a shutout is even better … it’s a tribute to all the hard work the players and coaches are putting in.”

Valencia (1-0) kept St. Anthony dual-threat QB Nick Billoups under wraps...
