Report of armed person at Tustin middle school prompts lockdown; sheriff’s officials say no suspect has been seen and no shots heard

Sheriff’s deputies were on campus Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Hewes Middle School in Tustin after someone reported there was an armed suspect, but authorities said no shots had been heard or fired and no suspects spotted.

The school, along with nearby Foothill High School, was placed on lockdown as deputies checked the grounds for any suspects, said Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun.
