Red Sox do not take a knee, but John Farrell defends their right to do so

CINCINNATI — Of the 15 or so Red Sox who stood outside their dugout this afternoon for the national anthem, each held his hat over his heart as usual during the national anthem.

But if one or some of them had decided to kneel or display any type of protest over police brutality and racism, as many in the NFL have, manager John Farrell said the ballclub would have no problem with that.

The Red Sox stand with those who kneel.
