NHL Pulls Out Of 2018 Winter Olympics In Pyeongchang, ‘Matter Officially Closed’

The NHL has elected not to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, marking the first time in 20 years the world’s top hockey league won’t be represented at the sport’s premier international competition.

NHL players have played in every Winter Olympics since the 1998 games in Nagano, but concerns over injury risk and lost television revenue prompted the league to pull out of next year’s tournament.

“We have previously made clear,” the NHL said in statement
