In a rigorous TV interview Monday, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was forced to explain reports that Donald Trump mistook her for Sophie Gregoire Trudeau at the APEC summit this month. And it appears the rumour started with Ardern herself.
“It’s a trifling matter,” the newly elected Prime Minister said on TVNZ1’s Breakfast program. “It was a bit of a funny yarn – something I don’t want to cause a diplomatic incident over. I’m sure you’ll appreciate that.”
