Kings forward Anze Kopitar could be in hunt for Hart

LOS ANGELES – By now, it’s safe to say this is forward Anze Kopitar’s best season here in his 12th for the Kings. With 29 goals and 51 assists for 80 points, he is only one point shy of his career-best of 81 set 2009-10 with 10 to play.

It has sparked talk of the Hart Trophy, the NHL’s version of the Most Valuable Player award. Following practice Friday, Kings coach John Stevens was asked if, in his mind, Kopitar is a legitimate candidate for this honor. He did not hold back.
