Jury awards couple $15 million after husband’s routine trip to doctor ends in paralysis

ATHENS, Ga. — A jury has awarded $12 million to a man whose routine trip to the doctor ended with paralysis. They also awarded his wife $3 million to care for him.

Cris Nelson was a truck driver for Frito Lay before the accident at his doctor’s office. Like many people, he had to get a physical exam for work.
