Higher Aircraft Deliveries Help Boeing Overcome A $500 Million Charge

When Boeing announced on Friday that its second quarter earnings would take a half-billion dollar after-tax hit, the news cast a pall over the company's impending earnings report. After all, the charge would translate to a 77-cent per-share hit, or 56% of the $1.37 analyst consensus. Less than a week later, fears over Boeing's second quarter financial results now appear overblown, due in no small part to demand for its commercial airplanes.
