Firefighters Working to Rescue Man Who Fell Down Empty Elevator Shaft in Downtown L.A.

A rescue crew was responding to the scene where a man fell down an empty elevator shaft in downtown Los Angeles Monday night, officials said.

Firefighters responded to 555 N. Hill St. around 8:40 p.m., the L.A. Fire Department said in an alert. The property at that location belongs to the nearby Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

The man was reported to have fallen about 25 to 30 feet down the shaft.

Officials were at the scene, and no further details were immediately available.
