Elizabeth Banks Apologizes, Says Shari Belafonte Corrected Her Steven Spielberg Flub

Elizabeth Banks has apologized for a criticism of director Steven Spielberg, saying he’s never made a film with a female protagonist despite having directed the seminal film “The Color Purple.”

Moreover, it was the daughter of legendary singer and activist Harry Belafonte — Shari Belafonte — who corrected her error live at Tuesday’s Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards.
