Effort to save portion of Willow Run plant receives MotorCities preservation award

Of its original 5-million square feet, only about 144,000 square feet of the Willow Run bomber plant — which later churned out Kaiser-Frazer automobiles and GM powertrains — stands today. However, even that amount wouldn’t remain were it not for the efforts of the Yankee Air Museum, which last week won the MotorCities preservation award for its Save the Bomber Plant campaign.
