Dodgers’ Walker Buehler fades late after a strong start in Game 2 of the NLCS

LOS ANGELES — Walker Buehler’s fastball was as fast as ever Monday night. He had eight strikeouts through five innings of Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, including seven on a fastball that topped out at 99.4 mph.

Yet the scoreboard showed an omnipresent deficit, a reflection of the Dodgers’ inability to score as much as Ryan Braun’s RBI double into the left-field corner in the first inning. But Buehler had done his job: he gave the Dodgers a chance to win.
