De Blasio’s Vision Zero program shows decrease in traffic-related deaths

SUNNYSIDE, Queens — The streets of New York are known for being rough.

Data shows city streets were also more safe in 2015.

At an event today at a school in Sunnyside, Queens, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that traffic fatalities were down 22 percent in New York City.

The Mayor's "Vision Zero" initiative includes 80 street safety projects, speed and red light cameras, protected bike lanes and pedestrian signs.
