Charleston shooting: What we know about the attack that left 9 dead at a black church

The man suspected of carrying out a mass shooting at a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina, has been indicted on federal hate crime and other charges, including some that carry the death penalty, the New York Times's Matt Apuzzo reported.

The suspect, 21-year-old Dylann Roof, was already indicted on nine murder charges, three attempted murder charges, and one weapons offense at the state level, according to USA Today's John Bacon.
