Bats go silent as Mariners smack Sox, 7-2

The long arm of the law of averages came down hard on the Red Sox last night.

After back-to-back games in which they scored 23 runs, tallied 36 hits (13 for extra bases), their bats turned into balsa twigs against the Mariners and starter Mike Leake, mustering just three hits against him and falling, 7-2, at Fenway.
