Arkansas Judge Rules Against Ban on Gay Parents Being Named on Birth Certificates

An Arkansas judge has ruled that three same-sex couples can now amend the birth certificates of their children to name both parents.

Following the June Supreme Court ruling striking down same-sex marriage bans nationwide, the three female couples challenged the Arkansas Health Department’s Vital Statistics Bureau’s refusal to identify them as adoptive or biological parents.
