A six billion pound ($10 billion) project to build the world’s largest offshore wind farm off the coast of northern England’s Yorkshire has been granted planning consent, despite warnings that it would kill hundreds of seabirds.

The Hornsea Two wind farm would consist of 300 turbines 88 kilometres offshore, generating up to 1.8 gigawatts, enough to power about 1.6 million homes.
