3-acre Irvine brush fire contained in 40 minutes

IRVINE – A brush fire near Magazine Road and Irvine Boulevard burned about three acres of grass Monday, July 31 before being contained by firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority.

The blaze started at about 3 p.m. and spread through the area’s light grass, burning along a three- to four-foot fuel bed. At one point, the flames were within a mile of nearby homes. About 40 firefighters responded, swiftly containing the fire with no reported injuries, said OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz.
