The advisory, which was issued at 5:35 p.m. EDT and set to expire at 6:00 p.m. EDT the same day, covered a roughly 25-minute window as NWS Pittsburgh monitored conditions across the area. Forecasters opted to let the alert lapse rather than extend it.
Gusts Expected to Diminish After 6 p.m.

“Though breezy wind gusts could last for an hour or two more, the overall trend for weakening gusts is expected after 6pm. Thus, the hazard headline will be allowed to expire,” the National Weather Service Pittsburgh office stated in its alert summary.

The NWS Pittsburgh office did not issue a follow-up advisory or extend the warning period, indicating that conditions did not deteriorate beyond what was already observed. Residents in the Pittsburgh area were advised to remain aware of lingering breezy conditions into the early evening hours of June 18, even after the formal advisory ended.
