Strong Thunderstorm Near Fortymile Bend Brings Wind and Hail Risk
A nearly stationary thunderstorm near Fortymile Bend threatens wind gusts up to 55 mph and pea-size hail β here’s what to expect.

FORTYMILE BEND, FLORIDA β A strong thunderstorm remained nearly stationary near Fortymile Bend on Wednesday afternoon, leading the National Weather Service in Miami to issue a Special Weather Statement at 3:44 p.m. EDT on June 24, 2026.
At 3:43 p.m. EDT, NWS meteorologists tracked the storm approximately 9 miles northeast of Fortymile Bend, or about 22 miles northwest of The Redland, based on radar data.
Hazards and Impacts
The storm may produce wind gusts between 50 and 55 mph along with pea-size hail, the National Weather Service reported. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and send unsecured outdoor objects airborne.
Minor damage to outdoor property is possible in affected areas, according to the NWS statement. Residents should secure any loose items that could become projectiles in high winds.
Affected Areas
Fortymile Bend is the primary location identified in the Special Weather Statement. The storm’s stationary position increases the risk of prolonged exposure to hazardous conditions for nearby residents and travelers.
The National Weather Service used radar to identify and track the storm. No tornado or flash flood warnings were included in the statement, but conditions can change rapidly with slow-moving thunderstorms.
