WILMINGTON, OHIO β€” A Flash Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio remains in effect through Saturday morning, June 27, 2026, covering dozens of counties across Ohio, Kentucky, and southeast Indiana as rounds of heavy rainfall continue to threaten the region.

The watch, issued Friday evening at 6:59 p.m. EDT, warns that excessive rainfall may produce flash flooding across a broad swath of the tri-state area, with the threat persisting through 11:00 a.m. EDT Saturday.

Counties Under the Watch

Twelve Ohio counties are included in the watch: Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fayette, Hamilton, Highland, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Warren. The watch also covers five counties in southeast Indiana: Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland.

In Kentucky, eleven counties fall under the warning: Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Lewis, Mason, Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson β€” spanning the northern portion of the state along the Ohio River corridor.

What Forecasters Expect

The National Weather Service says multiple rounds of showers with embedded thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy rainfall capable of triggering flash flooding. Forecasters warn that excessive runoff may flood rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying or flood-prone areas throughout the affected region.

Residents in the covered counties are urged to avoid flood-prone areas and to never attempt to drive through flooded roadways. Water levels in small streams and creeks can rise rapidly, especially during periods of intense rainfall.

What Residents Should Do

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding to develop. Residents in the affected counties should monitor updated forecasts from the National Weather Service and be prepared to move to higher ground quickly if flooding develops or a Flash Flood Warning is issued.

The NWS Wilmington office is the issuing authority for this watch and continues to monitor the situation. Updated alerts are expected as conditions evolve through Saturday morning.
