PENSACOLA, FLORIDA β The National Weather Service issued Tornado Watch 189 for northwest Florida and parts of Alabama and Mississippi, remaining in effect until 6:00 AM CDT Thursday.
The watch covers Escambia County in northwest Florida, along with four counties in Alabama and two counties in Mississippi. The National Weather Service Mobile office issued the alert at 10:58 PM CDT on Tuesday.
Affected Areas
In Alabama, the tornado watch includes Covington and Escambia counties in south central Alabama, plus Baldwin and Mobile counties in southwest Alabama. The Mississippi counties under watch are George and Stone in the southeastern part of the state.
Major cities within the watch area include Mobile, Pensacola, Gulf Shores, Daphne, Bay Minette, Saraland, and Prichard. The alert also covers smaller communities including Andalusia, Atmore, Bellview, Brent, Brewton, Ensley, Ferry Pass, Flomaton, Lucedale, Myrtle Grove, Opp, Tillmans Corner, and Wiggins.
