BETHANY, MISSOURI β€” A flood warning is in effect for five counties in north central and northwestern Missouri through 6:00 PM Sunday, as heavy rainfall continues to cause flooding in the region.

The National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill office issued the warning at 11:49 AM Sunday for Northwestern Daviess County, Northern Grundy County, Southern Harrison County, Southern Mercer County, and Gentry County.

Public reports confirmed flooding was already occurring in the warned areas as of 11:49 AM Sunday, according to the weather service.

Communities Experiencing Flooding

The weather service identified 14 specific locations experiencing or expected to experience flooding. These communities include Bethany, Albany, Stanberry, King City, Gilman City, New Hampton, Spickard, Darlington, Mcfall, Mount Moriah, Tindall, Modena, Mill Grove, and Ford City.

Officials warned that flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or already occurring throughout the affected region.

Safety Precautions

The National Weather Service highlighted the dangers associated with flood conditions and directed residents to safety information available at weather.gov/safety/flood.

Authorities advise residents in flood-prone areas to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to seek higher ground when necessary. The warning specifically covers areas in north central Missouri’s agricultural region, where rural roads and low-lying areas are particularly vulnerable to rapid water accumulation.

The flood warning encompasses portions of five counties that have experienced significant rainfall, creating hazardous conditions across northwestern Daviess County in north central Missouri, northern Grundy County in north central Missouri, southern Harrison County in north central Missouri, southern Mercer County in north central Missouri, and Gentry County in northwestern Missouri.
