MARYVILLE, MISSOURI β€” The 102 River at Maryville is forecast to reach minor flood stage Sunday evening, with waters expected to crest at 18.1 feet around 7 PM, according to a hydrologic outlook issued by the National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill office.

The river stood at 10.6 feet at 4 AM Sunday, well below the 18.0-foot flood stage. However, forecast rainfall over the next 24 hours combined with estimated runoff from earlier precipitation is expected to push the river above flood stage by Sunday evening.

Flood Forecast Details

The National Weather Service issued the hydrologic outlook at 4:42 AM Sunday morning. The maximum forecast stage of 18.1 feet represents a rise of more than seven feet from current levels.

According to the forecast, the river is expected to rise gradually throughout Sunday, reaching 10.9 feet by 7 AM and climbing to 17.1 feet by 7 AM Monday before receding to 10.7 feet by 7 AM Tuesday.

Weather Service Monitoring Conditions

The hydrologic outlook is based on predicted rainfall amounts and runoff calculations from recent precipitation in the area. Weather service officials noted that actual river crests may vary if rainfall or runoff differs from current forecasts.

The National Weather Service indicated that additional statements or warnings may be issued as more information becomes available and conditions develop throughout the day.

Minor flooding typically affects low-lying areas, agricultural lands, and some roadways near the river. Residents in flood-prone areas along the 102 River should monitor conditions and be prepared for potential water impacts Sunday evening into Monday morning.
