Tiffin River Flooding Expected to Impact Northwest Ohio Counties This Week
Tiffin River expected to crest at 12 feet Wednesday, flooding State Route 66 north of Archbold as minor flooding continues through the week.

STRYKER, OHIO β The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Tiffin River at Stryker, with minor flooding forecast to begin Tuesday morning, affecting Williams, Fulton, and Defiance counties in northwest Ohio.
The river stage measured 9.0 feet at 10:15 PM EDT Monday, according to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana office. Forecasters predict the river will rise above the 11.0-foot flood stage late Tuesday morning, reaching 12.0 feet by Wednesday morning.
“The river will rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning to 12.0 feet Wednesday morning. It will then fall early Thursday morning. It will rise to 12.0 feet Thursday evening. It will then fall again but remain above flood stage,” the weather service stated in its flood warning issued April 27 at 10:40 PM EDT.
Road Closures Expected
At the predicted 12.0-foot level, portions of State Route 66 north of Archbold are expected to flood, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions for motorists in the area. The flooding is forecast to continue until further notice, with the river expected to remain above flood stage even after initial water levels recede.
The flood warning follows strong winds Sunday evening, with the National Weather Service issuing wind advisories for the same counties. South winds reached 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph until 10:00 PM EDT April 27.
Weather Pattern Aftermath
The wind advisories warned that “gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.” Weather officials noted that strong wind gusts developed as rain exited the northwest Ohio region.
The flooding forecast affects portions of northwest Ohio that have experienced multiple weather impacts this week. Residents in Williams, Fulton, and Defiance counties should monitor river conditions and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
Current river conditions and forecasts are available through the National Weather Service, which continues to monitor the Tiffin River at Stryker. Officials advise residents to stay informed about changing flood conditions and take appropriate safety precautions around rising water levels.
