Strong Thunderstorms Track Across North-Central Ohio, NWS Issues Alerts
Nine weather alerts issued as thunderstorms bring 50 mph winds and hail across dozens of Ohio communities Tuesday evening.

COLUMBUS, OHIO β A line of strong thunderstorms moved across north-central Ohio Tuesday evening, prompting the National Weather Service Cleveland office to issue nine separate special weather statements warning residents of damaging winds and hail.
The storms, which developed throughout the afternoon and evening hours, brought wind gusts up to 50 mph and hail ranging from penny to half-inch size across multiple counties, according to radar data from the National Weather Service.
Multiple Storm Cells Impact Region
The first storm developed near Swanton at 4:23 p.m. EDT, moving southeast at 15 mph with wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea-size hail. This initial cell impacted Toledo, Swanton, Perrysburg, Rossford, Waterville, Northwood, Whitehouse, Holland, Maumee, Haskins, Grand Rapids, Tontogany, and Neapolis.
By 5:01 p.m., another strong thunderstorm formed near Perrysburg, moving southeast at 20 mph. This storm generated wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny-size hail, affecting Bowling Green, Perrysburg, Rossford, Gibsonburg, Woodville, Maumee, Pemberville, Haskins, Luckey, Bradner, Wayne, and Stony Ridge.
Storms Continue Eastward Movement
The severe weather pattern continued throughout the evening, with additional cells developing across the region. At 5:26 p.m., radar tracked a storm over Gibsonburg producing 50 mph wind gusts that impacted Fremont, Clyde, Gibsonburg, Woodville, Elmore, Green Springs, Ballville, Pemberville, Bradner, Wayne, Bettsville, Risingsun, Lindsey, Helena, Burgoon, Kansas, Stony Prairie, and Vickery.
Another storm near Deshler at 5:28 p.m. brought similar conditions to Findlay, North Baltimore, McComb, Van Buren, Bloomdale, Cygnet, Jerry City, Hoytville, Benton Ridge, Custar, and Bairdstown.
The most significant hail was reported at 6:00 p.m. when a storm over Arcadia produced half-inch hail along with 40 mph winds. This cell affected Findlay, Tiffin, Fostoria, Upper Sandusky, Sycamore, Arcadia, Vanlue, New Riegel, Carey, Bloomdale, and Bascom.
Eastward Progression Continues
As the evening progressed, additional storms developed further east. A cell near Gambier at 6:06 p.m. moved southeast at 15 mph, impacting Bladensburg with 40 mph winds and penny-size hail.
The final three storms tracked by the National Weather Service included a system near Marseilles at 6:23 p.m. affecting Marion, Cardington, Prospect, La Rue, Morral, Waldo, Marseilles, Caledonia, New Bloomington, and Green Camp. Two additional storms were reported near Norwalk and Bucyrus between 6:24 p.m. and 6:39 p.m.
The National Weather Service warned that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, while minor hail damage to vegetation was possible across all affected areas. All weather statements were issued based on radar-indicated conditions as the storm system moved through the region.
