Mooresburg Man Indicted for Filing False Police Reports Against Detective
A Mooresburg man created fake threatening text messages to frame a Bean Station detective, leading to his arrest on false reporting charges.

MOORESBURG, TENNESSEE β A Hawkins County man was arrested Tuesday after being indicted on charges of filing false police reports against a Bean Station detective and tampering with evidence, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Kevin Holliman Jr., 24, of Mooresburg was taken into custody with assistance from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Hawkins County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
Investigation Reveals Fabricated Text Messages
The investigation began in November when TBI special agents were requested by 3rd Judicial District Attorney General Dan Armstrong to look into allegations of harassment. Holliman had filed two separate police reports claiming he received threatening text messages from a Bean Station Police Department detective.
During their investigation, TBI agents uncovered evidence indicating the allegations were fabricated. Investigators determined that Holliman had created a TextNow account and sent threatening messages to himself to make it appear they originated from the detective.
Grand Jury Returns Multiple Indictments
On April 13, the Hawkins County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Holliman with two counts of False Reports and two counts of Tampering with Evidence.
The case highlights the legal consequences of filing false police reports. False reporting charges can result in significant penalties and undermine legitimate law enforcement investigations.
Legal Presumption of Innocence
TBI officials emphasized that the charges and allegations are accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence. Holliman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt through due process of law.
The investigation was conducted by TBI special agents working with local law enforcement agencies. No additional details about the specific content of the fabricated messages or the targeted detective were released.
The case remains under prosecution by the 3rd Judicial District Attorney General’s office. Court dates and additional proceedings have not been announced.
