COLUMBUS, OHIO — A beloved Columbus neighborhood tradition reached a milestone this Easter season as Jellybeanville celebrated its 65th anniversary of bringing holiday magic to families across central Ohio.

The annual Easter display in the Clintonville area has transformed residential streets into a wonderland of colorful decorations, Easter bunnies, and thousands of jelly beans since 1959. Volunteers from the neighborhood association worked for weeks to prepare the elaborate displays that draw visitors from across the region.

Decades of Community Spirit

What began as a small neighborhood effort has grown into one of Columbus’s most cherished spring traditions. Families have been making pilgrimages to Jellybeanville for generations, with many parents bringing children who later return with their own families.

“It’s amazing to see how this tradition has touched so many lives over the years,” said longtime resident and volunteer coordinator Margaret Thompson. “We have people who come back year after year, and now they’re bringing their grandchildren.”

Elaborate Displays Draw Thousands

The 2024 celebration featured dozens of homes participating in the decorating effort. Front yards were transformed with giant Easter eggs, bunny sculptures, and elaborate candy-themed displays. Volunteers distributed thousands of jelly beans to visiting children throughout the weekend celebration.

Local businesses and community organizations contributed materials and volunteers to support the annual event. The tradition has become so popular that the city now provides additional parking and traffic management during peak visiting hours.

Planning for the Future

Organizers say they’re already planning for next year’s celebration and hope to continue the tradition for future generations. The neighborhood association maintains a year-round committee dedicated to coordinating the Easter display.

“Seeing the joy on children’s faces makes all the preparation worthwhile,” Thompson added. “We’re committed to keeping this tradition alive for as long as our community wants it.”

The Jellybeanville celebration typically runs the weekend before Easter through Easter Sunday, with peak visiting hours in the afternoons when families can stroll through the decorated neighborhood and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
